OPEN POSITION: SENIOR DESIGNER

We are a close knit and collaborative team. We prioritize producing beautiful, thoughtful design work, and the happiness and work/life balance of our staff in equal measures. Pre-COVID we would take turns making lunch for each other every day, and as a result we are a design family. We still are, though lunch is now enjoyed at home.

We currently have projects in New York, New Jersey, New Hampshire, Colorado, Los Angeles, Oakland, Portland and Seattle. Maintaining diversity in project type and location is an important value for our firm, as we feel that the more our designers are learning, the better our work is.

We are seeking a Senior Designer with experience in residential design to join our team. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with an eye for meticulous execution. Commercial experience is a plus.

SENIOR DESIGNER
Job functions include:

  • Project management on multiple projects nation-wide. Serving as the main point of contact for clients, external project partners and internal team.

  • Leading design process based on client need and seeing concepts through to completion in all design phases.

  • Managing scope, budgets and project timelines.

  • Delegating to, and mentoring, junior design staff.

  • Contributing to the overall culture and success of JHID.

Desired skills & experience:

  • 6+ years in interior design with an interior architecture focus. At least 2-3 years in lead position on projects.

  • Ability to form deep, trusting relationships with clients, teammates and external partners such as architects, contractors and vendors.

  • Desire to be helpful and work in a team atmosphere. A drive to support your peers and contribute to the culture, standards and processes that make JHID successful.

  • A flexible, positive attitude and the ability to process change (positive or negative) calmly and effectively.

  • A talent for prioritizing, motivating and delegating. Understanding what tasks to tackle and what can be done more efficiently through others.

  • Refined visual presentation skills as well as excellent written and verbal communications.

  • Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite, Vectorworks/AutoCAD/Revit, Microsoft Office and SketchUp.Strong free-hand and computer skills are a plus.

  • Project experience that includes the submission of drawing sets, including but not limited to, specifications, technical production, and basic code knowledge.

  • Construction administration experience.

  • Skilled in visual research, material sourcing and specification, custom furniture design and furniture sourcing.

  • Willing to travel (outside of the current COVID context).
