Ken Fulk Inc. is seeking senior and intermediate designers with a minimum of 6-8 years of professional interior design experience for our San Francisco studio.

ARE YOU ONE OF US?

Requirements  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design or Architecture
  • At least eight years of experience working at an interior design firm
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and with various design teams at once
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe CS and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of SketchUp or any 3D rendering program
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills,
  • Hospitality experience is a plus

Roles

  • Responsible for the development and realization of project from start to finish
  • Lead team in conceiving of project concept and design to meet client program, local code, and project budget constraints
  • Preparing project cost and fee analysis and review project billing
  • Coordinate and participate in the preparation of all contract documents including:

    •      Design presentations
    •      Mood boards
    •      3D Models
    •      Rendered plans, and elevations
    •      Specifications and drawings
    •      Full set of construction drawings
    •      Finish, hardware, & plumbing selection and specifications
    •      FFE selection
    •      Custom furniture design and documentation
    •      FFE binders
  • Act as liaison between Proprietor/Creative Director, and design team during design process
  • Work with design team to review scope, schedule, budget, staffing needs, and project milestones
  • Represent and manage design coordination between clients and consultants
  • Attend site visits and client presentations and coordination meetings
  • Present design presentations to clients and consultants
  • Lead team in performing field visits/measurements and construction administration services including site visits, responding to RFIs, reviewing control samples and shop drawings, coordinating with consultants, manufacturers, and contractors, and completing punch list
  • Ensure on-time delivery of all contract documents
  • Collaborate on projects from design concept through complete installation
  • Sourcing and specification of FF&E
  • Compiling finish schedules
  • Generate design documents in AutoCAD
  • Furniture sourcing
  • Formulate preliminary space plans and 2D and 3D design concept studies and sketches that integrate the client's needs and are based on knowledge of the principles of interior design and interior architecture
  • Oversee the implementation of interior design solutions for each project from concept stage through installation
  • Research and analysis of the client's goals and requirements; and development of documents, drawings and diagrams that outline those needs. Ability to interact effectively with the design team on multiple projects.
  • Confirm that preliminary space plans and design concepts are safe, functional, aesthetically appropriate, and meet applicable building codes.
  • Prepare specifications and schedules with accurate product information for all furniture, plumbing, appliances, lighting and finishes.
  • Prepare construction documents, consisting of plans, elevations, details and specifications, power and communications locations; reflected ceiling plans and lighting designs; materials and finishes; and furniture layouts.
  • Coordination and collaboration with consultants, including architects, structural engineers, and various specialty consultants.
  • Sourcing and specification of materials
  • Research and create visual presentations
  • Specification writing
  • Maintaining vendor relationships

DETAILS 

Position is full time and based in San Francisco at “The Magic Factory.” 

Compensation based on experience. Ken Fulk Inc. offers health insurance, matching 401k plan, commuter reimbursement, and vacation days and sick time.
