Duties and Responsibilities


  • Independently evaluate and select materials; consult with vendors
  • Work integrally with the project team to develop interior concepts that work seamlessly with the project’s design concepts
  • Collaborate with the project team in producing presentation materials and in presenting designs to clients and other consultants
  • Responsible for conceptual design development of interior space to include floor plans, selection of finishes, pattern designs, elevations, details, room finishes etc
  • Develop comprehensive furniture design concepts for each project, including finishes, fabrics and specifications
  • Evaluate client needs, analyze and effectively document design objectives and spatial requirements, programming, space planning, facilities planning, material specifications and producing high quality design
  • Produce drawings in conformance with project time, budget and quality constraints
  • Work with project team in conducting construction-phase activities including shop drawing review, requests for information, drawing and document updates
  • Work on a wide range of projects, from intimately scaled private residences, technical higher education projects, to large scale government complexes, consulates and embassies


Skills and Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s Degree in interior design or architecture and 5+ years of relevant experience in an architecture or interior design firm required
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Abobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), Microsoft Office, SketchUp
  • Experience in detailing, elevations, finishes, color and furniture selection
  • Strong relationship development and stakeholder engagement skills required
  • Excellent project and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple, constantly shifting priorities against strict deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • AIA, CID, NCIDQ or equivalent accreditation
  • LEED accreditation preferred
  • Governmental and public building, public library and higher education and office experience is desirable
  • Experience and interest in sustainable building design preferred
  • Experience with state and federal purchasing contracts a benefit
  • National and occasionally international travel will be expected
