wHY seeks Project Coordinator

Based in Los Angeles and New York WHY was founded by Kulapat Yantrasast in 2004 and has established itself in the international design vanguard for widely acclaimed projects that impact the arts, communities, and the environment. The growing 30+ person practice is structured as four workshops - Ideas, Buildings, Grounds and Objects—allowing us to approach projects from multiple angles to develop holistic, experience-driven solutions that are also provocative and unique. We continue to build these “ecologies of disciplines,” to expand our network of diverse thinkers, both within and beyond the studio.  

We are looking for a studio administrator/ project coordinator with great energy, strong organizational skills, and an aptitude for learning new skills.  The right candidate will have the ability to prioritize and thrive in a fast-paced environment. This is a growth position that will report cross functionally and is an opportunity to gain experience in supporting the diverse activities of an organization with a multitude of business areas. This position will currently require as-needed visits to the studio, and will gradually require increased presence at the studio in alignment with the reopening phases. 


  • Project Coordination: Assist Directors with administrative processes ranging from pre-contract project planning, contract preparation and coordination, upkeep of database, preparing reports and dashboards, project related paperwork and archiving.
  • Coordination with Accounting:  Assist Business Administrator with project level data.
  • Studio support: Assist Business Administrator and Directors on standard HR processes; and support day to day local studio staff needs such as coordinating supplies, equipment, vendor activities, and calendars.

Required Skills and Credentials:

  • A Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum 1-2 years of day-to-day experience in utilizing Deltek Vantagepoint (T&E, Projects, Reports, Resource Planning modules).
  • Thorough knowledge of MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Basic working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Strong problem-solving skills. Demonstrated experience working with a variety of stakeholders, internal and external.
  • Strong listener with superior communication skills in English.
  • Basic working knowledge of standard phases of architectural projects, and basic project performance metrics.
  • Experience working in a design-intensive, collaborative environment, supporting various teams and/or studio with day-to-day operational needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple assignments effectively, highly organized and detail oriented.

Additional Skills/Credentials that will be considered a plus:

  • Knowledge of and experience with AIA Contracts.
  • Experience with Permit processes and paperwork
  • Experience with Contract Administration processes and paperwork
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit
  • Experience with other construction management or project management software such as Procore.

The position may be salaried with benefits.
