VMDO is seeking a highly motivated, creative, team-oriented individual to join our team in the role of Designer II/Job Captain in our Charlottesville, VA office. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of post-degree, professional experience, and work samples that demonstrates a proficiency in a range of design presentation formats both digitally and hand-drawn formats

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Project Architect to develop day-to-day work plans, resolve design issues and address model challenges.
• Experienced as job captain managing Revit models shared by AE team and organizing the construction documents.
• Work on collaborative teams to organize and prepare project documentation in each phase of project delivery.
• Prepare project documentation in each phase of project delivery and carry this project through construction administration.
• Coordinates the work of consultants and partner firms.

Qualifications

• Professional or Graduate degree from an NAAB Accredited or equivalent program in ones chosen design.
• 3-5 years in architectural practice.
• Enthusiasm for continuing professional development and on the path to licensure.
• Motivated to learn sustainability design practices and pursue LEED accreditation.
• Proficiency in the use of Revit, Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office.
• Skilled in the use of project management software including Newforma.
• Familiar with the application of industry standards, code regulations, and project process.
• Creative, communicative, good humored, motivated, responsible, organized, collaborative and team-oriented.
