McBride Architects is seeking to hire a Junior Designer/Architect. This individual will serve as the vital, primary source of support for Senior Architects on assigned projects. This individual will have many tasks to diversify daily responsibilities, where no day will look the same. The right individual will be able to work autonomously but not be afraid to exercise their curiosity to problem-solve while having the nerve to ask for help when necessary. Please read more below as we’d love to review your application should your background and ambitions align with it! If you are interested in applying, please provide your email address to be in direct contact with you should your profile be a fit.

Why McBride?

McBride is one of the premier boutique residential Architecture and Design Firms. While working on high-profile and stylistically diverse projects (particularly in the single-family residential space), McBride has prided itself on facilitating a familial and convivial culture. At McBride, you have autonomy with your given responsibilities. However, you are never on an island and can rely on your co-workers to help when in a bind. At McBride, we like the people we work with and believe that the familial feel only strengthens company morale, employee output, and day to day professional and personal satisfaction.

The Junior Designer/Architect will be responsible for:

Collaborating on Design Projects

The Junior Architect will assist with the planning and design for single-family residential projects by supporting a team of Architects and Project Managers. Juniors brainstorm project ideas, complete design drawings in AutoCAD, review project proposals, support consultant coordination, track documents, logs, and records, and handle redlines. The Junior Architect will remain a part of the process from conception through development.

Completing Paperwork

Junior Architects complete and file much of the paperwork that is involved in the design process. They create proposals and complete construction paperwork for buildings. Juniors prepare all required documents and submit paperwork before the construction process starts to ensure that projects follow legal specifications and company procedures.

Communicating with Various Involved Parties

The Junior Architect maintains communication with all parties involved in the project. They communicate with contractors to monitor the progress of a project. They are sometimes responsible for communicating with clients, noting their requests, answering their questions, and sending them project updates.

Coordinating Project Details

To assist the Senior Architects, the Junior Designer/Architect will coordinate architectural project details, including residential project specifications, dimensions, assisting with initial project research, and outlining project schedules and tasks.

The right candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelors (or higher) in Architecture or a related field

  • 2-5 years of experience working in an architectural and design office environment

  • Strong organizational skills to ensure that work across multiple projects is appropriately categorized efficiently, and effectively

  • Strong communication skills, mainly when communicating with internal and external stakeholders, consultants, and other parties involved.

  • Additional architectural and design software makes for an even stronger candidate.
