Lara Apelian Studio is looking for an intermediate level architect with min. 3-5 years of experience to work directly with the principal architect on variety of ongoing/future high end residential and commercial projects.  We are a design oriented office, looking for a talented and motivated intermediate architect to contribute to all phases of design with a focus on drawing production.  

This opportunity is best suited for a motivated talented designer looking to join a growing studio. Communication and a positive attitude are key to our studio culture.  Qualified individuals must have experience in setting schedules, coordinating with consultants, obtaining approvals from city or state agencies and preparing accurate construction documents. Initially we are looking for part time but could quickly grow to full time employment with benefits. 

Job Type:  Part-time 24-32 hours per week. Possibility to transition to full time if desired.

Salary : Commensurate with Experience and Industry Average

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Highly motivated, with excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Highly proficient in AutoCAD 2021, Adobe Creative Suite, SketchUp (and Mac-compatible rendering software), and Microsoft Office. 
  • Experience with creating all project documentation, including Design Development and Construction sets.
  • Experience producing construction drawing sets for NYC residential projects 
  • Strong knowledge of current building codes including ADA requirements
  • Must be a US green card holder or US citizen and currently living in NYC
  • A professional degree in Architecture (B. Arch/M. Arch)
  • A minimum of 3 of 5 years of professional working experience in NYC, preferably experience in high-end residential design

Key responsibilities:

  • Draft and help put together sets of drawings for SD, DD and CD.
  • Ability to produce CD sets. Interior construction and millwork detailing a must
  • Assist Principal
  • Strong communication, organization skills and ability to work in a team environment

Location:   In these extraordinary times we have resorted to working from home, and this position would be remote to start. We will reopen our Harlem, NYC office for in-office working in the future.

Schedule:  Monday to Friday
