Growing Architectural Firm in Annapolis, Maryland is seeking a Project Architect/Designer. QSR and R, LLC works with National restaurant chains as well as entrepreneurs wishing to create national chains. Designs range from providing construction plans for established prototype facilities to developing prototype plans, layouts, and finishes for new concepts. QSR and R, LLC’s work is primarily foodservice, however; we do work with other clients to design shopping center shell buildings, retail establishments, and other commercial buildings.

The Project Architect/Designer will assist the Principle and Project Managers in developing designs and documents for Casual, Fast Casual, and Quick Service Restaurants. The Candidate should have a foodservice background and be comfortable designing restaurants and commercial kitchens.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Work directly with the client to determine their needs and develop a program
  • Visit project sites and document the existing conditions of the site including available utilities.
  • Develop preliminary floor plans including equipment plans, reflected ceiling plans, and finish plans to obtain approval from the client and corporate entities
  • Develop equipment manuals and kitchen equipment/rough-in plans.
  • Work with QSR and R, LLC’s engineering consultants to ensure documents are coordinated between all disciplines
  • Review and redline the work of QSR and R, LLC design and drafting staff for corrections and completion of construction documents
  • Complete code review
  • Work with AHJ to determine all submissions required to obtain permit approval
  • Administer project competitive bids
  • Construction Administration including site visits, shop drawing and submittal reviews, and punch list development.

Qualifications and Skills

  • AutoCAD proficiency is a must
  • KCL CAD proficiency is a plus
  • At least 6 years of professional architectural experience
  • Foodservice experience preferred
  • Ability to work on multiple diverse projects simultaneously. 
  • Ability to work and coordinate with Consulting Engineers including MPE, Structural, and Civil Engineers
  • Ability to work independently and manage paraprofessional staff
