Position Responsibilities  

  • Leads the marketing and business development efforts of the local office to win new projects and expand the business.
  • Manages and supports the local marketing team and its workload to support new business pursuits.
  • Directs the preparation of marketing collateral (proposals, qualifications and presentations).
  • Develops and implements local marketing and BD strategy.
  • Collaborates with Firmwide Marketing & BD Leader to develop and implement firmwide marketing and BD practices and strategies.
  • Manages the Go No Go process with local leadership.
  • Collaborates with local practice leaders and project managers on marketing and BD initiatives.
  • Participates in weekly marketing/BD leadership meetings and firmwide practice calls.
  • Liaises with local communications/PR and central digital and publications teams, overseeing content creation to support the local office.
  • Maintains library of resumes and project specific content.
  • Manages and contributes to all marketing database systems, including Salesforce and OpenAsset, to create efficiencies across all offices.
  • With office leadership, develops and manages the annual marketing budget, resources and staff.  
  • Performs other tasks and responsibilities as may be required.  

Leadership Responsibilities  

  • Actively leads a project team.
  • Directly trains and mentors team members.
  • Directly supervises staff and is committed to direct reports’ professional development.
  • Develops and engages in talent strategy to find specialists, leaders, and future professionals for the firm through resume review and interviews.
  • Actively engages in internal and external professional development opportunities.
  • Develops and/or manages, in collaboration with team members, a clear and consistent work plan to achieve the project budget, deliverables, and schedule.
  • Encourages incorporation of sustainable strategies in all project assignments.
  • Coordinates and supports business development, public relations, and marketing opportunities.
  • Contributes to the development of standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Protects SOM from financial and legal risk.
  • Effective at communicating and promoting the work of the firm.  

Minimum Qualifications  

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree desired
  • 5 years of marketing management experience or equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities
  • 8 years of professional services marketing experience or equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Ability to write creatively, meet high graphic standards and produce effective promotional materials
  • Strong management, people and problem-solving skills
  • Must have a broad knowledge of marketing strategy, business development, and the architectural and engineering industry
