Honored with the AIA National Firm Award for 2015, Ehrlich Yanai Rhee Chaney Architects (EYRC) is a versatile practice that has earned an international reputation for design excellence and an exemplary professional culture.  The firm is led by Partners Steven Ehrlich, FAIA; Takashi Yanai, FAIA; Patricia Rhee, FAIA; Mathew Chaney, AIA and supported by seven other Principals and Associates.

Ehrlich Yanai Rhee Chaney Architects is a 45-person design firm with offices in Los Angeles, CA and San Francisco. Founded in 1979 as a tiny residential studio, the team has mastered building types ranging in scale from houses to courthouses, including libraries, university centers, corporate and government facilities.  The firm has been recognized with 11 other national AIA awards, the California Firm of the Year in 2003, and more than 150 other honors.

EYRC offers a friendly and supportive environment in which interns can gain real-world experience and develop their skills under the direct tutelage of licensed architects.  The office is focused on the expression of visions as constructed realities.

We are seeking entry-level individuals who are interested in furthering their education by working as interns in this context.  Positions are available for minimum three-month periods during the summer and require a 40-hour-per-week commitment. Exposure to the working world of professional practice is gained through opportunities which might include:  utilizing Revit on a project, constructing study and presentation models; assistance with the design development of a project; preparing presentation drawings for publication and/or awards programs; supporting day-to-day architectural office tasks (research, errands, etc.); and witnessing the ongoing progress of a project through visits to construction sites, attendance at meetings with consultants, visits to local building departments, and similar experiences.

Candidates should be open-minded, responsible, and enthusiastic, with a minimum of two years’ architectural education and demonstrated basic technical drawing, model building and rendering skills. Prior work experience and knowledge of Revit, Rhino and Photoshop are helpful. This is a non-salaried position; compensation is in the form of a stipend, academic credit (as available), professional credit, and an invaluable work or academic reference.

Positions are available ONLY to individuals holding legal US work status.  Interns will be required to obtain a social security number to be paid.  Be prepared to show an Employment Authorization Card and a visa that authorizes temporary work in the U.S.  Please check with your university or the nearest US Embassy for more information.  The Council on International Educational Exchange (CIEE) may also be able to resolve visa conditions and US work permits.

Please email resumes, letters of interest, and samples of work to Hiring Manager with the subject heading “Employment Inquiry – Internship” to:  internships@eyrc.com.

We look forward to hearing from you!
