Dean Sakamoto Architects /SHADE group is seeking candidates for its Honolulu office ASAP. Fulltime employment or on a contract basis. DSA/SHADE is a full-service design collaborative and training institute with capabilities in physical planning, architecture, urban design, exhibitions, community building and professional development. Project types include single and multi-family residential, institutional/educational, commercial, and hospitality at culturally significant sites in Hawai‘i and the Northeastern U.S. DSA/SHADE is committed to cultivating the future leaders of the design profession. Project Architect/Designer

DSA/SHADE is seeking an individual with a minimum 5 years of professional working experience since completion of a professional degree in architecture (M.Arch. or B.Arch.) and professional architect's license and/or NCARB certificate is ideal. Registration in Hawaii is not required. Primarily responsible for project management/design and supervision of Jr. Project Designers and Project Assistants. Secondary responsibility for one or more areas of office management/operations. Leadership capability a must; ability to be creative yet meet budgets and schedules; and possess a design sensibility which is compatible with the firm. Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite software and Excel is required. Excellent verbal, written communication skills along with energetic, assertive and proactive personality traits are desired. Candidates who demonstrate successful prior project outcomes of design excellence will received priority consideration.

Specific Project Types

Past experience and/or interest in sustainable and humanitarian approaches to project types which include multi-family residential; single-family custom residential; K-12 educational; boutique hospitality and commercial projects in a historic setting is ideal. Interest in applying sustainability and humanitarian-design certification programs such as LEED, Living Building Challenge, SEED, and etc. encouraged.
