WAKE is seeking to hire a motivated and talented designer, experienced in REVIT and 3D modeling, for a temporary short-term contract with the potential for permanent employment pending the commission of pending projects and initial trial period. The immediate positions would be 40hrs a week for 2 months. 

You'd be working on small to large size creative, design & technical projects ranging from feasibility studies for affordable housing developments (100+ units), to vacation homes in Maine, restaurants in D.C. and the BK Navy Yards, 10,000+ office fit-outs, DOB violation removals, and ground up construction in NYC. 

Retained individuals will be considered first when considering full-time positions should they become available.  

The primary role of the selected candidate will vary in size and scope, but will mainly consist of assisting the principal and project managers in the company through design tasks, including but not limited to:

CAD drafting
Permit Filing and DOB responses.
3D modeling
Graphic design
Renderings & visualization

Their immediate projects will include technical work on minor projects to confirm skill set, preliminary design for a 50,000 sqft NB, assisting with a feasibility study for a $200M affordable housing project in NYC, design and technical work on residential projects in NYC, design and creative work on a micro-hotel in NYC, design work on restaurants, and technical work for a vacation home in Maine. 

Ideally, the candidate will have a degree/background in architecture, interior design, and drafting, with 6-8+ years of professional experience with a minimum of 5-years experience in NYC. They will also be familiar with DOB drawings, permitting, and the construction document phase of our profession. Students currently enrolled in architecture or interior design programs will be considered on the basis of their technical and design proficiency.

Top candidates should possess the following skills:

Ability to work under the direction of the principal or project managers with little supervision.
Ability to produce technical sets with experience permitting and responses to local building authorities
Ability to take creative direction and apply feedback in an effective manner.
Comfortable with working independently in a growing office (we are 2yrs old and very much in the early stages of the companies growth)
Comfortable contributing to a growing office’s culture.
Strong drafting, 3D modeling, and rendering skills to support the team in deliverables and packages
Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Software requirements:
Proficient in AutoCAD, Sketchup, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Highly Proficient in Rhino, and Revit is a must.

General requirements:

Live in NYC and have availability to work out of the office, full-time, during the short-term contract in order to get used to office culture should the position move to full-time.
