Steve Johnson and Jim Favaro founded the architecture practice Johnson Favaro in 1988 in Culver City, CA with a commitment to the public realm, where they believe architecture has the greatest impact and is most appropriately experienced.

For over thirty years Johnson Favaro has focused its work on schools, libraries, and community centers, as well as cultural and civic institutions. The firm is founded on the principle that high quality and inspiring architecture in support of the social infrastructure of which these institutions are a part is crucial in the advancement of our democracy and civil society.

Today, we're seeking a dynamic Business Development Coordinator with a background in, and passion for Architecture and Design with an emphasis in the private education sector. The BDC will be solely responsible for all activities generating business for the firm including outreach and marketing.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development

  • Leverage network of contacts within the university and higher education system to generate leads on new building projects.
  • Seek out and respond to Award opportunities
  • Manage publication of Johnson Favaro book in partnership with publisher
  • Attend events, conferences, and career fairs on an as-needed basis

Company Branding

  • Coordinate 2-3 photoshoots per year
  • Social media management
  • Digital and Print Publications
  • Research and pitch on speaking opportunities, conferences, and relevant events in the LA area (typically 2-3 per year)
  • Manage and update the company website with news items and project updates
  • Compose quarterly email blasts and additional targeted email campaigns
  • Coordinate videography with contracted filmmaker(s) and participate in the development of messaging (review scripts, facilitate approval of video cuts, provide feedback, etc.)
  • Compose press releases for new projects and/or press kits for completed projects (including press release, fact sheet, product lists, etc.)
  • Design and produce marketing materials and creative content as needed (e.g. banners, brochures, postcards, etc.)


  • 5+ years of experience in the A/E/C industry is a must
  • Existing client database of decision-makers within the higher education system
  • Experience with proposal writing and RFQ/P responses
