Director of Admissions and Recruiting

We are searching for an experienced, results-oriented, data-driven director of admissions and recruiting to implement a sophisticated, integrated, analytically informed, and collaborative approach to college-wide enrollment. Working closely with the dean, program chairs, degree directors, chief financial officer and others, you will help envision and enact the best possible path forward to meet enrollment goals. You will lead the development, implementation, and assessment of short- and long-term strategic plans, create new initiatives, and oversee end-to-end process management, yield strategies, and budget management for the college’s recruiting and admissions operation. The director of admissions and recruiting reports to the dean, serves as part of the college’s senior leadership team, and manages and supports a team of admissions professionals (3.3 FTE).

 Responsibilities include:

 Leadership, Planning and Management

  • Develop and implement comprehensive short- and long-term strategies for the discovery and cultivation of prospective students, both domestically and internationally, to generate highly qualified, diverse applicants for all Taubman College programs and achieve high yield rates
  • Continually manage as well as monitor, evaluate and redesign where appropriate all aspects of the recruiting and admissions processes and yield-driving programs with the goal of maintaining a capacity enrollment of qualified students, a diverse student body, and a waitlist of qualified applicants
  • Collect, analyze, and disseminate administrative data related to admissions, recruiting, and attrition, utilizing system solutions and related tools as appropriate (SalesForce, Tableau, etc.)
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team and other colleagues in the development and design of marketing campaigns, and informational and promotional materials utilized for admissions and recruiting
  • Manage admissions and recruiting budget, and provide accurate enrollment projections in collaboration with the college’s chief financial officer for the college budget
  • Represent the college to internal and external constituents, including university officials, administrators, educational consultants, outside educational agencies, other higher education institutions, community college personnel, high school counselors, as well as students and their families
  • Support the development and implementation of K-12 pipeline programs
  • Serve as a member of the college’s senior leadership team

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of 3.3 FTE staff and occasional temporary employees
  • Set and evaluate individual goals, develop and sustain appropriate training, and monitor individual job performance

Admissions/College Support

  • Provide hands-on recruiting/admissions support for one or two degree programs
  • As needed, contribute as a reviewer for applications, conduct tours, attend recruiting events, respond to admissions-related inquiries
  • In collaboration with academic administrative leadership, contribute to decision processes to award college-supported scholarships for incoming students
  • Assist with college events, activities and initiatives as requested


  • Bachelor’s degree, master’s degree strongly preferred, with a minimum of 8 years of relevant, progressively responsible work experience in recruiting, admissions, and enrollment management
  • Demonstrated record of accomplishment in developing and implementing admissions/recruiting strategies, including international, underrepresented and/or underserved populations
  • Aptitude for data collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation
  • Experience using customer relationship management (CRM) software
  • Previous supervisory experience, including demonstrated ability to motivate staff and inspire teamwork in a positive organizational culture
