DVLPR studio was established by the architectural designer, artist, and writer David Tasman to support the design initiatives of artists and foster a discourse through the DVLPR talks program, which has explored contemporary issues emerging from both the art and architectural communities.

Since its inception, DVLPR studio has expanded to provide full architectural services. Recent projects include a collaboration with artist Kevin Beasley to design and produce Beasley’s modular soundproof glass room, A view of a landscape: A cotton gin motor 2012–2018, which was exhibited at the Whitney Museum and named by ARTnews as one of the most important artworks of the last decade. For the past year, the studio has also provided design support to the artist Nancy Lupo on a cycle of exhibitions culminating with a public installation in Pershing Square for LA’s public art triennial and a solo exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego. In 2014, DVLPR collaborated with artist Anna Uddenberg on Free Fall, a public sculpture and national gift from the Swedish state to Finland celebrating the centenary of the country’s independence.

Tasman’s writing on art and  architecture have appeared in periodicals, books and catalogues including Frieze, Flash Art, PIN-UP, and DIS. He is a co-editor with Carson Chan and Eeva-Liisa Pelkonen of the book Exhibition Architecture: A Paradox published by Yale and distributed by Actar Press. Tasman has participated in the Triennial di Milano, Art Basel Miami Beach, and exhibited his sculptures and drawings with Eli Ping Frances Perkins, Room East, and City Group galleries in New York. He studied architecture and art at Yale and Cornell universities and previously worked for Diller Scofidio + Renfro and KPF where he was a senior designer and associate principal.
