The Role

A Senior Interior Project Manager & Designer manages multiple large and complex sized projects concurrently through all project phases with limited supervision. They are responsible for providing leadership to team members and manage 3-6 individuals. They are the primary day-to-day contact for clients, consultants, architecture team and fulfill the required project manager duties. They possess the technical and construction knowledge to carry a project through completion and serve as a mentor, monitor quality control and fulfill project deadlines.

This role reports to and works under the guidance of the Interiors Studio Director.


Design (Limited oversight by the Interiors Design Director):

Collaborate with Interiors Design Director on the overall design concept and carry forward the established design direction

Direct and lead the preparation of client design presentations. Assist the team in production when needed.

Conduct and lead client design presentations

Obtain client approval on design where required including FF&E selections. Review where sign-offs are required with the Interiors Studio Director at the beginning of each phase.

Interiors Project Management (Limited oversight by the Interiors Studio Director):

  • Manage multiple large and complex sized projects concurrently with the Architecture Project Manager
  • Acquire and maintain full insight on the project contract, budget and Interiors scope
  • Establish and maintain the Interiors project schedule (including deadlines, client and consultant meetings)
  • Review contract deliverables and manage scope creep; alert Studio Director and Architecture PM of additional service prior to proceeding with change
  • Supervise team members, develop and maintain interiors work plan for maximum efficiency. Review workplan with the Interiors Studio Director at the beginning of each phase and as required.
  • Consistently meet deadlines and maintain project schedule
  • Assist Owner in assembling consultant team related to Interiors
  • Provide regular project updates to the Interiors Studio and Design Director
  • Assist in the preparation of meeting minutes and client agendas when required

Interiors Documentation and Coordination

Manage and oversee construction documentation, ensure the project remains on schedule

Review design and drawings for compliance with building code and accessibility requirements.

Schedule QAQC reviews when required with Technical Director

Review specifications related to interiors for accuracy, work with specifications writer

Maintain high level of quality control. Review all drawing sets for accuracy and design intent before being issued.

Coordinate Interiors consultant items noted on the Internal Drawing Responsibility Matrix

Generate drawing list for Design Development and Construction Documents.

Interior Construction Administration

Participate in onsite OAC meetings.

Review submittals for compliance with design intent and maintain log.

Respond to RFI's and maintain log.

Conduct site observations and prepare field reports.

Prepare punch lists.


Assist in development of Interiors programs

Foster and assist in growth of studio members

Model strong leadership, communication and organizational skills

Establish strong relationships with clients

Assist Studio Director with design proposals and RFPs when requested

Participate in Peer Performance Review Process and interviewing


Education: Architecture, Interior Architecture or Interior Design school graduate.

Other accreditation encouraged.

Experience: 10 or more years of experience in residential, hospitality and office projects

Managed multiple, complex large projects through all phases concurrently with limited to nominal oversight.

Lead teams of 3-6 individuals for 4 or more years

Portfolio shows creative design solutions on projects similar in size and scope to those of MA.

Skills: Advanced and creative design skills in various project typologies

Effective team leader with strong interpersonal skills, a collaborator

Self-motivated, organized and possess strong presentation skills

Advanced knowledge of Construction Documents and Construction Administration including building codes and accessibility requirements

Programs: Revit, AutoCAD, MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, 3D Modeling, SketchUp, Procore
