HDR is looking for an Architectural Designer to join their team in Lawrenceville, NJ. The primary responsibilities of the Architectural Designer include:

Collaborating on design projects, including programming client needs, conceptual design, schematic design, and design development.  Working with consultants, contractors, fabricators, specification writers, and regulatory agencies to meet overall project objectives. Resolve complex technical and design issues. Assist in managing client expectations, team communication, and consultant coordination.  Provide project team coordination for the finished plans, specifications, and material selections required for construction.

 Independently evaluate, select and apply architectural techniques, procedures and modifications to architectural construction documents, perform architectural assignments with only general instruction from the Design Principal or Project Architect regarding the expected results. Assist Project Architects, other Architectural Project Designers or Technicians as needed, and take responsibility for work in all phases of the architectural process. Participate in the construction administration of projects and review of submittals and finish samples.  Contribute to office activities, initiatives, and learning programs.  Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field

2+ years professional or internship experience preparing details, specifications and construction documents.

Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)

Desire to pursue growth opportunities and eventually obtain registration

Strong leadership, communication and relationship management skills

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

Proficient in Revit, Rhino, Sketchup, Adobe Suite, Model making skills (3D printing laser cutting assembly) and familiarity with related tools and process

Demonstrated graphic presentation skills.

An attitude and commitment to our “Design Excellence Program” and an active participant of our employee-owned culture.

 Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree in Architecture. 

Experience in the areas of healthcare, educational, civic, science and research facilities. 

Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required. 

Preference given to local candidates.
