Wherewithal is a multi-disciplinary design studio focusing on interiors, site specific installations and product design. Our comprehensive approach explores the intersection of aesthetics and the psychology of space. By introducing an edited language of color, texture and contrast, Wherewithal assists clients in developing a visual vocabulary that best reflects their sensibilities. 

The Junior Designer acts as a Wherewithal team member under the direction of a Designer, Senior Designer and Principal. The Junior Designer will be expected to support team members in the development of visual presentations and further the objectives of the initial design through conceptual and ultimately fully developed drawings, renderings, images and specifications.

The Junior Designer will be hired on as a contract designer on a project specific basis to assist with the design and documentation of a commercial development project through Fall of 2020. Applicant must be currently located in New York. 

An undergraduate and/or graduate degree in Interior Design or Architecture 
2+ years of professional experience in a design or architectural studio

Prepare and complete Concept, Schematic, Design Development & Contract level documentation including the following :

  • Highly aesthetic visual presentations & mood boards
  • 3D Modeling and hand model making
  • Rendered plans, elevations and perspectives
  • FF&E selections and specifications
  • Finish, hardware & plumbing selections and specifications
  • Developed interior design drawing & millwork packages following the firm’s standards
  • Custom furniture design and documentation
  • Finish boards and / or material boxes
  • Final Specification Binders
  • FF&E proposals 
  • FF&E procurement and proposal management
  • Maintain consistent organization of project folders and binders

Maintain and replenish the materials library on a regular basis
Develop and foster positive working relationships with vendors, suppliers and fabricators
Further develop and maintain AutoCAD standards and drawing templates
Attend site visits in order to perform measurements and review construction progress as needed 


Research & communicate precedents and trends in the interior, product design and fine art fields

Organize & attend vendor presentations and share valuable discoveries with the team
Pursue individual professional development
Contribute to studio development goals

Knowledge and experience with large scale commercial projects is beneficial
Proven organizational abilities and attention to detail 
Can be resourceful and independent in a demanding environment but also collaborative and constructive 
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills

Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp and/or 3DS Max, Adobe Creative Suite, G-Suite
