QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR Management or related field
  • PHR/SPHR certification preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years HR experience in a similar role, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits
  • administration with a working knowledge of federal and state labor relations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in architecture or other creative environment is a plus

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Human Resources Manager’s primary role is to manage and coordinate all HR functions within the firm, including day-to-day administration of benefits and personnel issues, establishing policies and practices to allow the firm to operate optimally and dealing with the full employee life cycle.

Policies and Compliance
  • Demonstrate and maintain a thorough knowledge of laws and other regulations which impact the firm’s HR policies & procedures and implement any necessary changes to ensure firm’s compliance
  • Maintain and regularly update the firm’s employee manual
Benefits and Payroll Administration
  • Set up new employees on payroll and benefits systems and adjust when necessary
  • Establish and maintain HR department records and systems
  • Work with brokers and third-party providers for benefits administration
  • Plan and coordinate annual open enrollment program
  • Keep current with industry conditions, pay rates and benefits to ensure firm’s competitiveness
Employee Relations
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee issues and questions; coordinate positive resolution of employee issues; communicate results as appropriate
  • Provide advice and guidance to staff on HR-related matters, including benefits information
  • Monitor, suggest and implement plans to maintain high staff morale
  • Develop strong working relationships with staff members
  • Support firm’s equity, diversity and inclusion goals and initiatives
Training, Staff Development and Performance Reviews
  • Schedule and facilitate regular employee performance reviews and document action plans
  • Develop and implement staff training and development plans
Strategic Direction of Company and Business Objectives
  • Develop working relationship with Principals to understand direction of the firm
  • Formulate and implement plans for staffing to fulfill strategic objectives
Recruiting, Hiring and Terminations (in coordination with the Hiring Team)
  • Advertise open job posting, screen resumes, coordinate candidate interviews, check references and background screening
  • Engage with various architectural schools to recruit new candidates for internships and full-time positions
  • Maintain a database of potential future candidates for longer-term recruitment
  • Maintain firm role descriptions and related hiring documents
  • Facilitate new employee onboarding process
  • Administer all voluntary and involuntary terminations and track any necessary records
