as job captain, you are fluent in the languages of design, 3d visualizations and renderings, programming, construction methods, materials, building codes, details, building execution, agency requirements and relationships—not just among brick staff—but also with consultants and clients. job captains are tech-savvy, tirelessly detail-oriented, and resourceful, using their skill, experience, and ingenuity. the job captain we seek has deep experience with projects, including their execution during construction administration. job captains have their finger on the pulse of technical, code and sustainable design practices, with a strong working knowledge of rules and recent innovations. leadership in 3d and bim modeling (revit/sketchup) is required.

  • bachelor's degree in architecture or interior architecture (m.arch preferred).
  • 5-7 years of experience in an architecture office (internships not counted).
  • the ideal candidate thrives on the real-time problem-solving required for construction administration at the job site. you love beautiful design, and you love to make sure it’s beautifully built.
  • knowledge and experience in all phases of architectural project delivery / interior design, especially construction administration.
  • excellent technical skills working in revit to produce documents is a must. autocad and other 3d modeling software (sketchup/rhino/3d max) desired. lumion a plus.
  • proven excellence in design, presentation skills, technical detailing and coordination.
  • thorough understanding of architectural concepts, spatial relationships, and fundamental knowledge of building systems.
  • experience in construction documentation, and ff&e specifications.
  • working knowledge of the california building code.
  • fluency with adobe creative suite.
  • proficiency in microsoft office suite and bluebeam revu.
  • excellent verbal, written and graphic communication skills.
  • team oriented. desire to work in a collaborative environment with design team, clients, consultants, and contractors.
  • candidates must have unrestricted authorization to work in the u.s.


  • lead small projects
  • assist with preparation and interpretation of construction drawings/documents, with a focus on technical details.
  • assist in design conception.
  • create design visualization.
  • coordinate tasks of all project stakeholders; manage smartsheet task-lists.
  • assist senior technical architect with monitoring construction progress to assure proper installation sequences, compliance with schedule, contract requirements and state and local regulations.
  • assist with preparation of change orders/asas as-needed.
  • assist senior technical architect with quality assurance/quality control (qa/qc).
  • assist with resolution of problems that arise on the jobsite, make recommendations and coordinate to the contract documents.
  • conform to job-specific communication protocols.
  • pickup redlines.
  • attend regular site meetings.
  • assist with response to and completion of requests for information (rfi).
  • assist with maintenance of submittal and rfi logs.
  • elevate the level of construction quality.
