Culture

CHA believes in staff development, open participation, and encourages staff to be involved in firm initiatives. Job Captain Position

A Job Captain at CHA has a vital role in the development of a project from early studies through construction administration.  As a Job Captain, you will be responsible for developing project documents and ensuring that they represent the intent of the design as well as conformance with CHA’s standards for quality.  You may work directly with a Project Manager or within a team including a Project Architect and Design Staff.  This role will build upon your design skills, technical expertise, creative thinking, organizational ability, and capacity to both lead and learn from others within a team.  Responsibilities within the position may include developing design and technical details, participating in team design discussions, managing drawings, and coordinating documentation with subconsultants. You may research products, complete Code and zoning studies, develop test-to-fit plans, participate in construction administration, and mentor less-experienced staff.  Project Architects and Project Managers will be directly involved in mentoring you as well as providing exposure to a variety of project types and phases of a project.

Position Requirements (skills you bring to the job):

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited school of architecture
  • 4+ years of experience
  • Experience with Revit, Sketchup, Adobe Creative Suite and Bluebeam
  • Team player who is self-motivated, detail-oriented and has strong design sensibilities
  • Interest in pursuing sustainability credentials, e.g.,LEED AP, CPHD, WELL
  • Experience in Multifamily housing, Multi-Use, Commercial and/or public/governmental projects
  • Actively pursuing architectural registration through AXP and preparing for AREs.
  • Participate in the design and documentation of projects from feasibility study through construction administration
  • Independently or with a team, be responsible for production of project documents
  • Interact with consultants, vendors, public jurisdictions, and clients
  • Ensure adherence to CHA processes and graphic standards
  • Perform building and planning code reviews
  • Assist in coordinating consultant drawings and technical information
  • Develop graphics for presentations to clients and permitting agencies
  • Participate in internal team and client meetings

Preferences
