MIG | Portico is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic professional Project Architect who is interested in contributing to a boutique architecture practice within a 275-person, award-winning national planning and design firm, MIG, Inc. MIG is headquartered in Berkeley, CA, with 14 offices in five states. Our Seattle Westlake office is excited to be expanding its architecture studio and is seeking a creative and experienced Project Architect to support our mission-based visitor experience design projects. This integral position will expand our architectural design practice, working side-by-side with planners, landscape architects, graphic designers, and exhibit designers. Project Architect Responsibilities:

This position requires an interest in and understanding of place-based visitor facilities that are mission driven and an ability to easily integrate other disciplines into our work.

  • Lead and assist project teams in all phases of architectural design;
  • Serve as Project Manager for projects with a wide range of construction values, which may be
  • Manage the architectural detailing and documentation process for diverse project types.
  • Manage internal MIG | Portico team, including architecture and landscape architecture.
  • Manage local and national consultant teams
  • Ability to manage a project from Pre Design through Construction Contract Administration
  • Travel as required, including internationally, for mission-driven clients around the world;
  • Show strong interest in complex visitor and community-based design projects at all scales, with energy and enthusiasm for conservation driven projects;
  • A growing interest in actively participating in marketing and business development via pursuits, presentations, strategy sessions and conferences; and
  • Maintain a solid list of contacts in the field including discovery center/visitor center and museum professionals and consultants.across the country or around the world.


The Project Architect will have 7-12 years of experience, either licensed or directly on the way to licensure. They will have experience with effective and accurate completion of all phases of the design process and is self-directed. They will bring experience with projects that include visitor facilities, live and static collections, interpretive exhibits, community buildings, and/or projects with extensive engagement of site design and landscape architecture. 

  • 7-12 years of experience in a professional architecture firm, ideally working on visitor experience projects
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience
  • Licensed architect or on track to be licensed
  • Familiarity with Autodesk products, including AutoCAD And Revit; Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite are required; experience using Deltek Vision CRM and Opportunities modules are a plus
