Tri-Lox is a design+build practice based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. Since being established in 2010, Tri-Lox has been committed to innovative design, environmental integrity, and community stewardship. Our growing business develops unique installations and products with a focus on sustainable wood for a diverse clientele in public, commercial, residential, and exhibition spaces. 

We are seeking a creative and driven individual to support Tri-Lox research and business development. Working in close collaboration with the company leadership, the R&BD Associate will have the opportunity to shape a set of initiatives grounded in research that aims to identify how practices can conserve forests and address several dimensions of climate change and sustainability in relation to the built environment. The R&BD Associate will produce visualizations and illustrations of concepts, content, and data for presentation as well as lead communications for these initiatives to the public and clients within the design community.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, proactive, passionate about design, and eager to take on challenges independently while also working in a collaborative environment to innovate the design market and realize the company mission rooted in social and environmental sustainability.

Responsibilities and Tasks:

  • Develop mission-building initiatives including research on sustainability issues around wood, forests, circular economy, innovative architectural design, and climate.

  • Manage strategic communication plans from development through implementation, including the design of marketing assets for current projects, products, and new initiatives.

  • Research, develop, and coordinate thought leadership opportunities for company partners.

  • Develop and manage written and visual content for e-newsletter, website, PR, and social media.

  • Conduct client and project research, build and maintain a database of client and media contacts, and schedule marketing presentations.

  • Pitch, develop, and coordinate event concepts, collaborations, and brand partnerships.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Deep commitment to sustainable practices with a keen interest in architecture and design

  • Excellent strategic and critical thinking ability 

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in communications, journalism, architecture and/or interior design, sustainability, or related field; OR at least three years of professional experience in communications, business development, or sales preferably in the fields of architecture and design

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Demonstrated graphic presentation skills

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills with close attention to detail

  • Ability to effectively manage time and work independently on multiple projects

  • Mastery of software including Adobe Creative Suite, Google Suite, database management tools

  • Experience working with web content management systems and social media platforms

Hours: Full-time  |  Compensation: Commensurate with experience
