SITU is an unconventional architecture practice using design, research, and fabrication for creative and social impact.  We are seeking a full-time employee to join our Fabrication team and to focus on estimating and fabrication administration.

About Us:

We bring a unique background of art and architecture, design and technology, combined with a deep understanding of materials and craftsmanship, to projects at every scale.  From our 10,000 sq ft production shop we provide digital and traditional fabrication services to architects, artists, contractors, developers and creative agencies, among others.  Our services also include design assists, consulting, and project management at every stage.  Our expertise is not defined by materials or processes, but rather the complexity and uniqueness of each project.

SITU was founded in 2005, in Brooklyn, NY, and currently resides at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. 

About the Position:

Because we are a unique and multi-disciplinary practice, we are seeking a unique and multi-disciplinary teammate.  Working closely with the President and VP of Administration, the primary responsibility of this position will be to manage and prepare estimates for the fabrication division, as well as project specific administration support such as job tracking, invoicing and purchasing among other tasks.

About You:

We don’t know you yet, but we imagine you have spent 2 - 3 years in the fabrication, construction, or architecture industries, and are looking for a company to get excited about.  Design/Build, price per square foot, and contingency mark-ups are concepts comfortably within your vocabulary.

You are passionate about good work, fanatical about organization, and energized by new challenges.  You have strong computer and software skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to communicate clearly and cleanly.  Your understanding of Microsoft Excel and/or Google Spreadsheets is in-depth, and are comfortable with the rest of the Microsoft and Google Suite.  In regards to CAD/CAM software you at least have a basic understanding of Rhinoceros 3d or similar CAD software,  You can fluidly re-prioritize and work on multiple projects, and can solve problems on the fly.  You also know how to balance working independently while knowing when to ask for help.
