General Description:  

Matthei & Colin Associates is a mid-size Architecture, Planning & Interior Design firm located in downtown Chicago, specializing in healthcare facilities.  We are currently seeking an Interior Design professional who will work candidly with the Director of Interior Design to assist in all aspects of the project process from design to documentation and work well in a team environment.  Candidate should exhibit a strong base interior design and an interest in growing with the firm.  Individual needs to be a self-starter with the ability to interact with and organize the efforts of the Principals, Director of Interior Design, Architectural Staff and the firm.

 

Responsibilities: 

    Responsibilities for full-time position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist Director of Interior Design, including the initial design/ideation process.
  • Meet with clients and design team to present concepts, plans, finishes, etc.
  • Assisting with construction administration, submittals, shop drawings, etc.
  • Prepare finish material schedules, room finish schedules and construction documents.
  • Prepare furniture and material specifications.
  • Maintain and organize interior design library.
  • Research new products and materials.
  • Meet with Sales Representatives to acquire knowledge of new products appropriate for healthcare.
  • Participation in meetings with all team members.
  • Coordinate work with architectural staff, consultants, etc.
  • Graphic presentations and material boards for client meetings, marketing and/or multi-media presentations.

 

Qualifications:

  • Interior Design or Architecture degree from an accredited program.
  • 1-3 years of relevant Interior Design experience (healthcare experience preferred).
  • Excellent design and graphic skills, with ability to work on projects of all size and scope.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills and ability to communicate effectively.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic and flexible with proven time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Revit preferred.
  • Working knowledge of 3D modeling/rendering software, SketchUp, Adobe Suite, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Knowledge of design and construction means, methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of products and materials relative to interior design.
  • Ability to follow established standards for project production.
  • Ability to think creatively, strategically and tactically.
