Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, prepare, schedule, organize, and execute specification development for a variety of project types in their entirety, interacting with architectural team and consultants.
  • Assist in the development of specification standards, policies, and procedures with the specification team’s firm-wide.
  • Confer with clients, consultants, contractors and others during various stages of project development.
  • Review of architectural drawings and details to coordinate with specifications.
  • Review and update of specifications as needed to stay current with industry standards and advancements.


  • Completion of five or six-year architectural degree program desired.
  • Licensed Architect.
  • 10 years progressively responsible experience in all phases of architecture and substantial experience in the preparation of specification construction documents, with an emphasis on the preparation of construction specifications on large scale projects.
  • Thorough knowledge of architectural design, documentation, detailing, building materials, building codes, construction techniques and costs, as well as building material compatibility and characteristics.
  • Practical knowledge of general architectural practice including programming, site planning, civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering.
  • Extensive knowledge of industry standards, current product development, and architectural practices.
  • Extensive knowledge and prior experience with contract language, liability, indemnifications, and definitions.
  • Strong analytical, oral and written communication skills with the ability to build quick rapport with all levels of employees, clients, consultants and vendors.
  • Proven ability in problem identification, problem solving and conflict resolution.
  • Must be organized and a team player.
