CHROMA is a San Francisco based, boutique residential interior design studio led by Alexis Tompkins and Leann Conquer. The studio focuses on artful, luxury homes. Each project is designed in dynamic dialogue with the architecture, pulled through a conceptual lens of art, fashion, and contemporary culture executed pristinely with a compelling mixture of vintage, contemporary and custom furnishings. Each project is passion driven and entirely unique.


CHROMA is looking for a driven and passionate Project Designer with 5-7+ years of experience in luxury, residential design to join our team. The ideal candidate is a creative visionary, a motivated self starter with self management skills who thrives in a fast paced, creative environment. He/She will be a core member of an emerging design studio, new on the scene, positioned to grow, creating artful, cutting-edge environments that push the boundaries of residential design.

The Project Designer will be responsible for executing all phases of projects from initial concept development to installation and continued support. This position requires an in-depth knowledge of Interior Architecture & FF&E design processes from construction document set development to space planning, furniture sourcing, and custom furniture design and fabrication.


Client Liaison For Small Projects

  • Responsible for managing client experience including weekly doses of inspiration, coupled with expectation setting for smaller projects.

Industry Partner Liaison

  • Responsible for collaborating with other designers, architects, contractors, fabricators, artisans, owners representatives and landscape architects as required on multiple projects.

Project Designer

  • Responsible for execution of all phases of our design process from concept design to installation, and continued support. These responsibilities include historic, fashion and contemporary culture research, material sourcing and specification, furniture sourcing, custom furniture design, graphic presentations, schedule development, complete construction document set development. Seeking extensive experience and strong ability managing through construction and fabrication to ensure design intent is realized including coordinating submittals, responding to RFIs, ASI/IDSK review/response, and consultants. The project designer will work closely with the Senior Designer on project execution.

Project Manager For Small Projects

  • Responsible for ensuring projects are completed to CHROMA standards effectively, efficiently, on-time and on budget by maintaining budgets and project timelines.

Engagement in all CHROMA systems including brand building & marketing

  • We are growing this little gem of a brand and are seeking vibrant and talented brand ambassadors to engage in creatively spreading the word through excellent execution of high quality work.


5-7+ years of experience in the industry and an interior design and/or architecture degree from an accredited university.

Knowledge of design and art history. CHROMA’s work is research and concept driven. We are seeking a Project Designer with a strong knowledge of design history, with an eye for detail and passion for interpretation.

Technical skills list including excellent hand sketching and rendering ability, knowledge of the full design process including Concept, Schematic, Design Development, Construction Documentation, Construction Administration, Procurement, and Installation, high proficiency in AutoCad, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), SketchUp and Microsoft Office Suite, Studio Designer and Management experience, proficiency and passion including construction administration, project management, vendor relationship management and client relationship management.
