John Friedman Alice Kimm (JFAK) is seeking a Marketing Coordinator to help support the office in the preparation of the firm’s RFPs/RFQs, marketing materials, award submissions, and market research.

We maintain a design-first studio committed to creating distinctive high performance and iconic buildings and environments. We work on a wide range of projects, including educational institutions, civic and commercial developments, as well as custom single-family and multi-family residences.

The Opportunity:

JFAK is seeking a Marketing Coordinator to support the growth of the full range of the firm’s projects. The successful candidate has a strong interest in architecture and design with a demonstrated talent for marketing and communications. The Marketing Coordinator position is a hands-on role responsible for implementing the creation of proposals and other marketing materials. The Marketing Coordinator will be expected to:

  • Provide oversight on the execution of all graphic and written assets of the firm (print + digital) adhering to firm’s graphic standards
  • Maintain internal and external marketing resources (awards, conference, editorial calendars)
  • Manage the proposal process and submissions, including drafting proposals and preparing responses to RFQ’s and RFP’s:
    • Manage production schedule in terms of scope, priorities, timelines and resource availability
    • Coordinate with consultants
    • Keep team organized and updated on project status
    • Work collaboratively with the firm’s leadership to track RFP/RFQs
  • Assist with presentations and interview preparation
  • Manage and update social media websites (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter, etc)
  • Ensure that the message/brand strategy are appropriate for various audiences
  • Update marketing collateral & project database
  • Coordinate, design and distribute ongoing newsletters and/or email blasts
  • Coordinate new project photography
  • Manage award submittals and surveys
  • Assist in coordinating firm PR needs, in conjunction with firm’s external consultant
  • Manage all activities related to documentation of the firm's work through Photography, Film, Video


The Marketing Coordinator is a creative, motivated, and highly collaborative person. He/She is an excellent communicator, problem solver and action-oriented team player, with an understanding of the design industry and the practice areas within the education sector.  

The ideal candidate has a degree in Marketing, Journalism, Advertising, Architecture, Design, or similar. He/She also has at least one to two years of experience in coordination and preparation of marketing materials for a professional service company (AEC industry related a plus).

We are looking for an action- and detail-orientated team player who is highly organized with strong project management skills, a positive attitude, and ability to work independently and collaboratively. The position requires excellent written, oral, and design communication skills and the ability to successfully handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven, quality-focused environment. Proficiency InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word Outlook a must. An eye for graphic style and quality, creative enthusiasm, and photography skills are preferred as well as experience developing compelling graphic presentations and engaging proposal documents.

This is a full-time position. Must possess all legal permits and visas required to work in the U.S. and be a Los Angeles area resident. Fluency in written and spoken English required. The firm offers a competitive compensation and benefits package, including health insurance, 401K matching and performance-based bonuses. We hire carefully and for the long term. Salary commensurate with experience.
