Emotive Architecture is a four-person Washington, DC based architecture and design practice specializing in mixed-use and multifamily projects.

The candidate will be required to use his or her leadership skills, working closely with our team, to produce, manage, and oversee dynamic architectural projects.  This position requires a thorough understanding and appreciation for the design, the technical aspects of documentation,  the construction and life of a project. The candidate must have the  dexterity to handle the challenges faced with handling projects of various sizes and complexity. You will be engaging clients, consultants and contractors to ensure a gratifying process and result.


As an Intern 3, an individual shall:

  • Work with minimal supervision

  • Assist with the planning/design/coordination of specific projects.

  • Be able to independently research building products and codes in support of the design team.

  • Serve as a secondary point of contact for specific clients.

  • Assemble drawing packages from schematic design through construction documentation.

  • Communicate clearly with staff 

  • Coordinate with vendors and consultants.

  • Ensure client satisfaction through accountability, timeless and excellent work

  • Report directly to the Senior Project architect.

  • Experience in high-end, residential and mixed-use architecture at all phases of design and construction.

  • The ability to visually communicate design through drawings, diagrams, and details with expertise and precision.(By hand and electronically)

  • Deep working knowledge of ArchiCAD, or a committed interest to learn it, master it and explore  its limits.

  • 2 - 4  years of professional experience

  • Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in architecture

  • Experience with the full project lifecycle, through post - occupancy.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong leadership, self- motivation and tenacity.

  • A demonstration of skilled technical proficiency

  • High level of design competence

  • Experience with putting together drawing sets

  • Good awareness of design, industry trends, materials, innovations and the aptitude to translate these ideas .

  • Punctual & organized

  • Knowledge of Building Codes
