The Archers is an AD100 team of designers, architects, artists and cinephiles based in Downtown Los Angeles, California.  The studio’s work comprises buildings, interiors and furnishings for private homes and public spaces.

The Archers is seeking a talented and experienced Designer to join its growing design team in LA. This role will play an important part in helping to design and deliver some of the studio’s growing portfolio of residential and hospitality projects in the US.

Your Role:

This role will be a key member of the team delivering the studio’s interior commissions, working alongside the Creative Director and under the direction of the Project Lead. 

Your Responsibilities:

FF&E Sourcing: Source finishes, furnishings and fabrics as required.

Custom Furniture/Millwork:  Design and oversee production of custom furnishings. Review and approve shop drawings, prepare architectural details and millwork drawings as needed.

Purchasing / Budgeting: Manage purchasing schedules and budgets. Create FF&E and finish specifications. Develop relationships with existing vendors and fabricators and explore opportunities for new partnerships.

Project Management:  Document and coordinate design work to ensure project meets established deadlines. Participate in construction administration, site visits and shop drawing review to ensure project is executed to the highest quality.

Client Communications: Support general project administration to ensure clients and wider team are kept abreast of design progress as well as providing a point of contact for all client queries.

Visual Communications: Produce sketches, visuals and renders in software (AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite) as required to communicate design internally and in client presentations.

Your skills, experience and attributes:

  • 2+ years of Design/Interior Design in a similar role at a design firm.
  • Good knowledge of 3d modeling and drafting software (Autocad & Rhino).
  • Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign etc…)
  • Empathy for great design, strong visual skills, with attention to detail, composition, light, colour and form.
  • Calm, mature and professional.
  • Self-motivated - able to work independently whilst always keeping the wider team informed of progress.
  • Analytical - with a proactive approach to problem solving.
