Our Los Angeles office (located in downtown Santa Monica near light rail and bus lines) is seeking a Landscape Architect with 3-10 years of professional landscape architectural office experience. The position requires experience working with AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp and digital graphic ability. HLW is a multi-disciplinary firm with architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, urban planning, lighting design, environmental graphics, sustainability services and strategy & discovery. We are seeking creative individuals who can work in a collaborative environment. We specialize in integrated design by creating vibrant and healthy places for people to live and focus on sustainable, creative and personalized spaces with a high regard for function and dedication to quality.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Landscape Architecture from an accredited institution. A dual degree in architecture and landscape architecture a plus.

  • 3-10 years of professional design experience.

  • Demonstrated design excellence and consistent high performance.

  • LEED accreditation (preferred).

  • Excellent communication, graphic, and verbal presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability for team and client leadership and confidence.

  • Versatility with computer graphics software including but not limited to AutoCAD / Revit, 3-D Modeling Software (i.e. Studio Max, Rhino, and Sketch Up), Adobe CS Programs, MS Office Suite.

  • Desire for growth and diversity in design process.

  • Knowledge of building and ADA codes.

  • Knowledge of the current LEED rating system and/or other sustainable initiatives.

  • Knowledge of construction costs in order to design to established budgets.

  • Knowledge of coordinating and integrating MEP systems into a project.

  • Knowledge of grading and drainage with the ability to communicate with civil engineers

  • Knowledge of current best practices in design and technologies.

  • Knowledge of material sourcing, costs, bid process, applicability.

  • Knowledge of southwest plant material.

  • Knowledge of legal and liability issues affecting work.

  • Willingness and/or demonstrated participation in Marketing and Business Development for the firm.
