Located in the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Metalform Studio specializes in high-precision custom metal fabrication of architectural elements such as staircases, furniture, and art installations. We combine cutting-edge technology with age-old artistry to deliver exceptional craftsmanship to our customers on time and within budget.

Metalform Studio is currently seeking qualified candidates for a position starting in mid-May. Hours will be based on project needs, generally 3 to 5 days per week, with occasional overtime. Compensation will be commensurate with experience. Position description is as follows:

  • Shop drawings including fabrication design and detailing, preparing and coordinating submittals, generating cut lists and process-specific drawings.
  • Pricing and estimation for potential jobs, including material take offs, fabrication schemes, generating RFI’s, and writing proposals.
  • ordering materials and supplies for projects
  • Fabrication problem solving
  • Project coordination with principals, shop fabricators, and clients.
  • We are a small shop and everyone is expected to take on a variety of roles and duties

Skills:

  • Autocad (2D) drafting - clear, clean, accurate, organized and time-efficient.
  • Ability to read, scale, interpret, and organize architectural drawing sets and extract relevant information.
  • knowledge of metal fabrication materials, tools and processes such as machining, welding, bending and forming, cutting, etc.
  • Experience with waterjet cutting and layout for machining holes patterns is a plus.
  • Solidworks skills a plus, or similar/alternative software.

Assets:

  • Detail-oriented, triple-checks work to avoid or minimize costly errors.
  • Enjoys figuring out fabrication methods and challenges.
  • Background in Architecture and/or construction is a plus
  • Experience with the high-end luxury residential sector in NYC - its demands, challenges, and expectations.
  • Able to work through multiple projects simultaneously, or various sizes and with overlapping deadlines.
