Lighthill Architect (LLA) is full-service architecture firm located in the Bernal Heights neighborhood of San Francisco. We take great pride in doing modern, minimalist, sustainable design across a range of project typologies, with a focus on process and attention to detail. We are a small but growing firm with a relaxed office environment.

LLA is looking for a full-time employee to join our team. Our ideal candidate is someone with several years of experience and a broad-based skillset in design, detailing, and project management. The ability to work on more than one small project at a time is desired. Small firm experience is also a plus. Good communication skills are key. The exact number of years of practice is less important than your aptitude, ability, and motivation to take on this challenging role.

As a member of our team, you will be involved in all aspects of project design, management, and delivery. You will work closely with the firm principal, clients, contractors, and other stakeholders. Our rapidly growing practice is a great opportunity for professional growth for a motivated candidate.


  • Strong written and oral communication skills a must.
  • 3+ years’ experience and a B.Arch. or M. Arch. from an accredited architecture school.
  • Ability to handle drafting, design, and project management tasks in the overlapping and fluid manner that smaller, design-oriented projects often require.
  • Proficiency in standard architectural and related design software applications.
  • Must currently live in the Bay Area (or be planning to move here in the very near future) and hold a valid US passport, green card, or work visa.

Compensation and Benefits:

This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary based on experience and education. Benefits include employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance; an available HSA and retirement plan; 10 paid office holidays; 15 days of PTO with increases over time, and a flexible work schedule.
