Our Los Angeles Office is committed to upholding the values of the firm and developing elegant, high-quality and efficient buildings.  Our office is currently involved in the construction of a 900,000+ square foot mixed use development in San Francisco, California.  We are seeking an Architect with a minimum 8 years of experience to join our office and collaborate with the Project Team in successfully delivering the project through project close-out and completion.   

This position is intended for candidates who have been an integral part of a project team during the Construction Administration phase of multiple projects.  This is an INTERMEDIATE level position (Architect II or greater), requiring a minimum 8 years of practical experience with 5 of those years working as part of a Construction Administration team.  The successful candidate will present examples of their own prior Construction Administration work, in the form of Field Observation Reports, Change Order evaluations, RFI/ Submittal Tracking and through images of built work.

Essential Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • The successful candidate must be committed to design excellence and illustrate a proven ability to translate the design process successfully into the built environment.
  • The successful candidate will become an integral part of the project team during the Construction Administration phase of the project.
  • As a member of the project team, the successful candidate will work collaboratively with a team of other, equally experienced Architects to successfully deliver the project through close-out.
  • The successful candidate will have a collaborative approach to their responsibilities and the maturity to work efficiently and cooperatively with all involved.
  • He/She will be involved with maintaining daily relationships with the Owner, Contractor, Design Consultants and Project Team. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required for daily interaction with the Owner, Contractor, Design Consultants and Project Team. 
  • He/She will be responsible for receipt, distribution and tracking of contractor RFIs and Submittals on a day-to-day basis.
  • He/She will utilize the project data base, including the contract documents (e.g. Printed Drawings, Specifications and Revit Model) to develop draft responses to RFIs and Submittals.
  • He/She will occasionally be required to supplement the contract documents by developing architectural drawings that are clear, concise and coordinated with the work of other design consultants on the project. 
  • He/She will evaluate Contractor Change Orders on behalf of the Owner and observe validity and entitlement of the Contractor’s requests. 
  • He/She will participate in weekly OAC meetings, maintain an internal record of topics discussed during the OAC and regularly present the status of critical RFI / Submittal responses.
  • Travel from Los Angeles to San Francisco on a regular basis may be required of the successful candidate.  Travel will include attendance at OAC meetings, regular onsite field observation and reporting, punch list observations and project close out.  
  • Experience interacting with superintendents, foreman and subcontractors at the jobsite is necessary.
  • Strong technical knowledge of California Building Code, building systems, waterproofing concepts and working drawings is necessary.
