Reporting to the Dean of Academic Planning and Governance (DAAG), the Assistant Director of Facilities and Space Planning, Arts & Sciences will assist with the management of Arts & Sciences (A&S) buildings that house 28 academic departments and over 40 interdisciplinary centers and institutes. This includes multiple buildings throughout the Morningside Campus. The Assistant Director will also work closely with the Director of Facilities and Space Planning. 

Working with a small, high-level team, the incumbent will help oversee a large number of capital, space planning, office and lab renovation and expansion, and other projects, including collateral moves and sequencing of contingent projects in Arts and Sciences. S/he will assist in the management and tracking of the annual operating budget and individual project budgets, including resources associated with facilities and space planning projects. 

The Assistant Director will serve as an A&S liaison to internal and external stakeholders, including department administrators, principal investigators, department leadership, and central facilities. The incumbent will track the progress of all current and future projects; analyze progress, anticipate challenges, and execute the necessary steps to keep the timeline on track. S/he will represent and advocate for Arts and Sciences departments with central University offices for facilities' operating needs (custodial, damage repairs, environmental conditions). The incumbent will also coordinate communications for planned electrical outages and fire drills. 

The incumbent will assist in the development and maintenance of a space inventory, including transitioning data from paper records to electronic systems. S/he will review and evaluate requests for office renovations, departmental and/or office moves, and faculty housing needs and requests, and provide recommendations to leadership. S/he will review, evaluate and recommend responses to department/institute/center space requests.

Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent related experience. 3 years of related experience.

Ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Must have excellent communication written and oral communication skills. Must have excellent project management and follow through skills. 

Bachelor's degree in architecture or engineering preferred.
