S2 Design is a small, nimble design studio dedicated to the pursuit of contemporary architecture. The majority of our work includes high-end custom residential, new multi-family, mixed-use, commercial fit-out, and historic/ adaptive re-use projects. We encourage strong community engagement, an open exchange of ideas, and value a supportive, yet challenging work environment. Our studio is located within a South Philly workshop/ collective. 

We're looking for a talented architectural designer with 3-5 years of relevant professional experience to join our growing studio. A Bachelors or Masters degree in Architecture (or equivalent) is required.

Strong candidates should demonstrate the following qualities & skills:

  • Fluent in AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, Adobe Creative suite
  • Excellent 3d visualization/ rendering capabilities, strong graphic & web design abilities
  • Thoughtful design & analytical skills; professional written / verbal communication; highly organized; problem solver
  • Strategic thinker with ability to see big picture, yet unique eye for detail; independent, proactive

Your responsibilities will be both diverse and broad in nature, with opportunities to strengthen your problem solving and design skills. You will be involved in all aspects of project development-- from surveying, design, and production to coordinating with consultants, managing projects, and tracking schedules. You should be comfortable working in a variety of environments- from construction sites, design meetings with clients, to presenting in front of community groups.

The ability to work independently and interest in taking on increased responsibility is highly desirable. As a small firm, opportunities for upward advancement are high. Previous residential design experience is advantageous, but not required. Construction/ wood working experience is a plus. 

We offer a competitive salary based on experience, 401(k), vacation/ sick time, and 501(c)3 donation match. Occasional nights and weekends may be necessary depending on project deadlines. This position is not suitable for remote work. US residency or work permit required.
