We are seeking a Technical Designer to work in either our Los Angeles or San Francisco office.
We are a small, unique, fast-paced company that provides sales and technical support for a wide variety of acoustical products - from high-end interior finishes to sound isolation construction materials. We offer a flexible work environment and the option to work from home (after an initial training period), an energetic start-up vibe, and long-term potential for profit sharing.
As a small company, we all share responsibilities fluidly and work collaboratively to support one another. Prior knowledge of acoustics is not necessary – but an interest in learning about it is! We seek someone who is entrepreneurial, technical, and detail-oriented, with a deep interest in design & construction processes, fabrication & manufacturing, building codes, and, of course, acoustical materials.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Be a technical resource to architects, designers, acoustical engineers, contractors throughout all phases of the design/construction process. This support ensures products are used to correctly comply with building codes, perform acoustically, are structurally/seismically sound, and achieve the design team’s aesthetic vision and functional requirements.
- Create detailed shop drawings (AutoCAD) for acoustical assemblies (walls, floors, ceilings) and coordinate detailing with our structural engineer and customers.
- Visit project sites to review construction progress and compliance with shop drawings and installation guidelines.
- Prepare detailed material/cost estimates for contractors based upon design documents.
- Tracking and managing orders/projects from quote to sale to installation.
- Researching new materials and methods for all of our products and services.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- B.Arch, B.Eng, or B.Const.Mgmt. preferred.
- 2-5 years (min.) with construction, architecture, or engineering firm.
- Experience with construction, construction detailing or shop/fabrication drawing
- Proficiency in AutoCAD required.
- Familiarity (or willingness to learn) Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, and CRM software.
- Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, organized, creative problem solver, curious, critical thinker, and ambitious.
- Ability to manage many projects simultaneously within short deadlines.
Compensation is competitive and commensurate with experience. Benefits include medical/dental insurance, retirement plan (after waiting period), paid vacation and holidays, and a considerable incentive/bonus program.
