Rivers & Christian is an established practice, spanning Architecture, Interiors, Planning and Project Management. We are currently seeking an experienced AIA Architectural Associate 3 to join our team.

 The Practice:

With forty years of experience and project presence in every major airport in the State of California, and several nationally, the professionals of Rivers & Christian are experts in providing architectural services to the aviation industry.  Recent projects include long range terminal master planning, retail, technology improvement projects, major terminal renovation and expansion projects as well as ground up general aviation facilities.  We have an extensive portfolio of commercial projects, with a special focus on Type I buildings.

Responsibilities & Qualifications: Full-time professional on the path to licensure with three to six years of experience, works under direction of others, responsible for project’s technical design; provides planning/design/coordination and consultation on large projects; reviews/approves conceptual designs.

Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for specific technical design aspects of an assigned project including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions.
  • Performs assignments under direction with limited responsibility for design.
  • Provides professional architectural consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large, complex projects.
  • Independently makes decisions on significant architectural design problems and methods.
  • Reviews and approves conceptual designs.
  • Carries out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures.  

Qualifications:

  • Professional degree in Architecture (required)
  • Proficiency in Revit, with a minimum of 2-3 years Revit project experience (required) 
  • Proficiency in AutoCad (preferred)
  • Abilities in 3D modeling (Rhino, Sketchup) and rendering (Vray, 3dsMax) as well as Adobe Creative Suite for design (preferred)
  • Previous experience in schematic design through construction documents on commercial (Type I) projects. 
  • Previous experience with consultant coordination, technical detailing, and specification research
  • Strong communication skills (graphic, written, verbal)
  • Organized and self-motivated
  • Attentive to detail and schedule

Candidates demonstrating many or all of the above qualifications will be especially valued as the nature of our work requires us to shift roles and responsibilities as projects demand.  Flexibility and a broad professional interest (from the conceptual to the technical) are key.
