Our clients include public and private organizations with ambitious educational, cultural and civic goals. We are a partnership of six with five associates and a total staff of twenty-five architects and support staff. The work of our firm has received over 150 design awards including the American Institute of Architects National Firm Award. 

Job Description

KHA is searching for a Communications Director. This is a full-time position reporting directly to the Partner in Charge of Communications. The Director will coordinate with in-house staff for the production of written and graphic materials for all communication efforts.

The Communications Director will have the following responsibilities:

Assemble research on potential leads, project stakeholders, and market trends.

Oversee marketing files and Cosential CRM in order to maintain contact with key individuals and organizations. 

Coordinate the preparation and updating of staff resumes, project profiles, and other firm collateral.

Prepare proposals and associated marketing materials to solicit new business for the firm, including responding to requirements of RFP’s and RFQ’s.

Coordinate interview materials, including meeting agendas, slides, and brochures. Ensure consistency of deliverables with the firm’s graphic standards and brand.

Maintain digital images library, and coordinate project photography.

Create e-blasts, newsletters, and other PR materials.

Maintain and update website.

Support special projects and assignments as needed.


A bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of professional experience. 

A background in liberal arts or marketing and communications is preferred. 

Previous experience in the design sector is a significant plus.

Excellent writing, communication and organizational skills, with particular emphasis on attention to detail and accuracy of information. 

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat DC), Cosential (or similar CRM), Wordpress (or similar CMS), and Constant Contact (or similar email marketing software).

Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
