Description: 

Perkins Eastman seeks a Marketing & Communications Specialist to join our in-house Brand + Communications Team in New York. The Marketing & Communications Specialist will work directly with the firm-wide Communications Manager and a growing team of communications professionals on a variety of digital and print communications efforts including award submissions, speaking engagements, thought leadership events, press kits, bylined articles, collateral development, media outreach strategies, and leveraging social media to promote the firm’s design and thought leadership in various building typologies across several global markets. This individual must be a team player with good leadership skills and the ability and desire to collaborate with people at all management levels—primarily principals and marketing staff. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to coordinate and implement marketing and communications strategies. 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Produce and manage multiple, complex content streams for regular internal and external communications including web copy, white papers, project case studies, and social media postings.
  • Research, draft, and compile content for global communications platforms, such as the firm-wide newsletter and intranet including internal news, project wins, research and innovations, key hires, and industry trends and analyses.
  • Collaborate with principals to develop copy and content for bylined articles, white papers, and other thought leadership mediums.
  • Provide sound counsel and substantive edits to enhance client and firm-facing communications
  • Create and execute sector specific communication campaigns to increase brand awareness and gain market share
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for new types of communications and platforms that support the firm’s overall goals
  • Ensure internal and external communications are consistent with brand and messaging guidelines
  • Support major integrated marketing campaigns through development and execution of communications plans
  • Work closely with marketing staff and principals on feedback and approvals for a variety of communications
  • Develop new ways to incorporate interactive, video, and social media platforms into regular internal and external communications vehicles
  • Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Communications or related field is preferred; Master’s degree a plus
  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of corporate communications experience or equivalent required
  • Superior written and oral communication skills in at least one of the following disciplines:

o    Marketing writing (i.e. advertising, storyboarding, copywriting)

o    Journalism (i.e. criticism, beat reporting)

o    Academic/research writing (i.e. case studies, white papers)

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Independently able to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects
  • Proven sound judgement
  • Takes a proactive approach to project management, utilizing strategy, planning, and execution skills in collaboration with team
  • Experience working independently as well as within global cross-functional teams in a professional environment
  • Strong interpersonal communications skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure
  • Familiarity with international design media, existing relationships with press contacts preferred
  • Interest/learned knowledge in architecture and urban design a plus
