The Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA) has an opening to join our scholarly and creative media team. We are an organization whose mission is to lead architectural education and research on behalf of more than 7,000+ faculty members in the United States, Canada, and around the world.

We are looking for a Publications Manager/Staff Editor with an understanding of the value of scholarly inquiry and the evolving ways that knowledge and information are created and disseminated. You will work with architecture faculty, ACSA staff, and external partners to shepherd journals and books through peer review, production, and dissemination stages. We also see webinars, distributed learning, and next generation scholarly communication in the future.

Here are some details:

  • As managing editor for two scholarly journals, you are the lead point of contact with the editorial boards, our commercial publishing partner, and external vendors. Under your steady hand, the peer-review, editorial, and production processes should run smoothly and according to deadlines. Each journal has its own website, so you’ll also work in both print and digital realms.
  • As managing editor for ACSA’s scholarly publications, you’ll shepherd conference proceedings and other publications into existence. You’ll collaborate with our Programs Team, who produce ACSA’s conferences, competitions, and awards each year. Scholarly publishing is evolving, and you’ll need to be on top of indexing, DOIs, copyright permissions, as well.
  • Finally, you will also manage ACSA’s webinars and other educational activities to help our members progress in their careers. You’ll work with faculty members on developing content, and be responsible for the user experience, communication with speakers, and other details before, during, and after the events.

For these duties we are looking for someone who knows publishing and media, is solid in project management, can work in InDesign and Acrobat, and will contribute to our warm and collegial culture of working with our volunteer members.

In other words, an undergraduate degree is required, as is experience in publishing, continuing education, or related fields, as well as expertise with MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite. Experience in architecture or allied design fields is a plus. ACSA offers a competitive salary and generous benefits.
