Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the Division of Landscape Architecture in the Department of Architecture (Ref.: 492472)

Applicants are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the Division of Landscape Architecture in the Department of Architecture (Ref.: 492472), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

The Division of Landscape Architecture is looking for a scholar focused on the development of technology-enhanced approaches and applications in the advanced practice of landscape architecture at a regional scale.  Candidates should have experience in conducting cross-disciplinary applied research in topical environmental and societal issues at multiple scales such as formulating development policy and technical guidelines for national and regional governments; undertaking landscape or planning projects for local communities; organizing international conferences or symposia to facilitate knowledge exchange; generating research publications; and curating exhibitions to raise public awareness of the anthropological, geopolitical, and ecological significance of the research topic.

Applicants should hold a professional degree in Landscape Architecture or a closely related field and a multidisciplinary academic background.  Preference will be given to those holding or studying for a Ph.D. degree in Landscape Architecture.  They should have a minimum of three years’ teaching experience at the tertiary level, and be able to demonstrate innovative teaching practices that could advance and enrich the design and practice based teaching of the Division, including instruction in design studios, supervision of thesis studies, and development and delivery of research seminar courses.  They should also have a record of research publication and in obtaining research grants.

A highly competitive remuneration package commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary, as well as leave and medical benefits.  Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
