Arcadea Architecture, a small, successful design-oriented architecture studio in downtown Boulder seeks a full-time architect or architectural intern. Graduate degree and 2-10 years’ experience in architecture preferred.

We are looking for a well‐rounded architect or architectural intern who is excellent in conceptual design, technical detailing, and all aspects of project management and client contact. Experience is less important than intelligence, creativity, ability, efficiency, and being a good listener. You also must care about sustainability and have good software skills.

Experience in a variety of project types is a plus, but enthusiasm for single‐family residential architecture is essential. It is important that you enjoy the personal aspects of working closely with clients. Our structure is to work collaboratively as a studio, with each person working with David, the principal, and perhaps running two to four projects at a time. Less experienced interns may start out supporting the others and take on increasing responsibility over time. We want to do simple, modern design as much as possible, but some flexibility and adaptability to other stylistic approaches is also important. Honesty, integrity, a positive outlook, and a desire to be of service to others are all essential. It is also important that architects coming into our firm are willing to adapt to our methodology to a reasonable extent. Trust and autonomy are expected, but also must be earned.

We work in SketchUp and Revit primarily, AutoCAD occasionally; InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Excel and Word secondarily.

Our three main goals:

Provide great, personalized service to clients and community; Produce clear, meaningful design and be recognized as one of the top design firms in the region; Create a rewarding, fun, collaborative, and highly efficient internal culture.

Meaning in architecture is derived from our collective history and we strive to convey meanings that will be clear and appropriate beyond the present. Simplicity of form and efficiency of means will always have value, as will the interplay between old and new.
