POSITION SUMMARY //

SPMDesign has been experiencing rapid growth over the past year and we’re ready to bring on another Designer. We are seeking an innovative, energetic, detail-oriented, and ambitious candidate to assist and manage the design process for a wide range of projects from start to finish with a focus on larger, industrial/environment design projects.

This is mid-level position, requiring at least 3-4 years of experience working as a Designer in a similar role with the opportunity to advance within the company, as we continue to rapidly take on more projects each year. We are looking for a candidate that is familiar with the industries we serve (retail, tech, education) and is eager to grow in their career.

Skills & Qualifications as a Designer –

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field – degree in architecture a huge plus
  • 3-4 years of design experience at an architecture or design firm
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Rhino, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office
  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations - position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy
  • Think and work in a wide variety of disciplines including installations, sculpture, architecture, industrial design, multimedia, graphics, and interactive design
  • Communicate ideas internally through sketches, illustrations, diagrams, drawings, renderings, presentations, verbally, and in writing
  •  Ability to interpret brand DNA into creative artistic expressions
  • Contribute to the development and growth of a multidisciplinary design studio
  • Flexibility to focus on a large client account with a variety of project types -or- multiple, concurrent projects in various stages of development
  • Proactive, self-disciplined, and confident in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and also build strong relationships with cross-functional teams
  •  Outstanding graphic presentation skills and ability to communicate design ideas quickly
  • Expert-level communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong design aesthetic, with an ability to adapt to client needs

Position Responsibilities as Designer –

  • Manage multiple design projects at a various stages of development
  • Lead and is accountable for the design of assigned projects
  • Plan, manage, and complete project tasks from inspirational concepts through design documents
  • Collaborate with leadership, fabricators, and other designers to develop realistic solutions while maintaining strong design aesthetic
  • Develop creative design solutions that are in line with project goals and understands their impact on cost, production, and other variables
  • Prepare graphic presentations for client review
  • Communicate status of projects consistently to project manager and leadership
