Groundswell Design Group is a full service design firm specializing in placemaking, public space and hospitality. Our projects range in scale from large public parks, land art installations, restaurants and distilleries, to intimate cafés and pop-up activations. Each project's process is specially tailored to the site, drawing inspiration from the surrounding landscape, neighborhood and community to create a unique lifestyle and atmosphere.

Groundswell Design Group creates compelling and highly crafted interior placemaking experiences focusing on the conceptual design through design development stages of design.  Although focusing primarily on schematic and design development, Groundswell also partners with architects and consultants to remain a part of the documentation and construction administration process.

As a small, but dynamic, studio, candidates would be part of a tightly knit team of Interior Designers working on a wide range of interior hospitality project types.  Groundswell is looking for a full time Interior Designer with minimum of 4-6 years of professional experience to join our highly creative and collaborative team.  The ideal candidate is entrepreneurial, self-directed, and is well rounded and fluent in a variety of design aesthetics with a strong technical foundation and understanding of Interior Construction.

Candidates Should have:

  • Masters/Bachelors of Interior Design
  • 4-6 years of professional design experience.  Must have completed Hospitality projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, Microsoft Word and Excel.  Proficiency in Sketch-Up and/or Revit is a plus.
  • Furniture & Lighting Sourcing Experience using Hospitality, Contract and Custom Vendors.  Vintage sourcing is a plus.
  • Proficiency in creating Interior Architectural Finish Specifications.
  • Strong space planning skills.
  • Strong presentation, graphics skills and design conceptual communication skills – Concept/Look and Feel, Design Development, and FF&E Packages. 
  • Strong Interior Construction site experience and communication skills with all trades
  • Proficiency in Interior Detailing
  • Experience working with Furniture Budgets
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects in different design phases in a fast paced environment
