Description: 

The Public Relations Manager will work directly with the Director of Brand + Communications and a growing team of communications professionals to produce PR programs that will elevate the firm’s visibility around the globe. Tasks include (but not limited to) strategic media outreach, content development for web, print, and social platforms including press releases, pitch letters, bylined articles, copywriting for collateral materials, and social media engagement. Candidate must be a team player with good leadership skills and the ability and desire to collaborate with people at all management levels. The ideal candidate has a demonstrated ability to coordinate and implement proactive media outreach strategies. 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Create targeted media strategies that successfully promote the firm’s brand and market positioning.

  • Disseminate key messages and achieve media coverage to support key business development goals.

  • Develop and implement outreach communication plans targeting consumer and business media and industry-relevant organizations that support global strategic objectives. These plans should also be translatable on a local level.

  • Consistently seek out new opportunities to place Perkins Eastman people and thought leadership in client-facing media.

  • Work closely with Managing Principals, Market Leaders, Research, and Marketing to develop key stories and messages that amplify thought leadership

  • Maintain a strong media contact network and build new contacts for print and digital publications

  • Write media releases, articles, web features, social media content, and media collateral as needed.

  • Coordinate media interviews and ad-hoc media training for spokespeople

  • Monitor, analyze and communicate PR results on a quarterly basis

  • Compile and maintain an editorial schedule of all relevant media and industry publications.

  • Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related field is preferred; Master’s degree a plus

  • Minimum of 8 to 10 years of in-house public relations or agency experience or equivalent required

  • Track record of successful placements

  • Superior written and oral communication skills in at least one of the following disciplines:

    • Marketing writing (i.e. advertising, storyboarding, copywriting)

    • Journalism (i.e. criticism, beat reporting)

    • Academic/research writing (i.e. case studies, white papers)

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Independently able to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects

  • Proven sound judgement

  • Takes a proactive approach to project management, utilizing strategy, planning, and execution skills in collaboration with the larger Brand + Communications team

  • Experience working independently as well as within global cross-functional teams in a professional environment

  • Strong interpersonal communications skills

  • Ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure

  • Familiarity with international design media, existing relationships with press contacts preferred

  • Interest/learned knowledge in architecture and urban design a plus
