KieranTimberlake is seeking a Knowledge Manager to join our architecture studio. Comprised of over 100 professionals with diverse backgrounds and abilities, our design practice is recognized worldwide. Our portfolio spans over 30 years and includes arts and culture, civic, education, government, and residential projects in the United States and abroad. The firm’s transdisciplinary approach integrates the architects, researchers, and communicators to create innovative, compelling, and award-winning projects.

Working closely with firm leadership, the Knowledge Manager will steward a custom knowledge management system that facilitates pervasive communication and idea sharing across the firm through integrated search, discovery, and use of digital assets. In addition, the Knowledge Manager will consult with architectural teams to set up both standard workflows and project-specific methods for collaboration, document management, and archiving practices. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative, experienced, and forward-thinking information professional who can play a pivotal role in implementing and stewarding a vital design, research, and collaboration platform.  
 
Responsibilities

  • Shape and execute the knowledge management system framework and infrastructure
  • Establish and ensure best practices for data creation and management
  • Manage taxonomy and metadata schemes
  • Coordinate all activities related to capturing, sharing and discovering digital assets
  • Participate in content buildup and maintenance
  • Develop and/or facilitate the use of library content, including by providing guidance to staff on effective and high-quality metadata use
  • Build and maintain metrics to monitor the knowledge management system’s performance
  • Provide firm-wide user support including troubleshooting, problem-solving, and continuous improvement of tools, systems, and workflows
  • Actively manage the repository to ensure information is accurate, up-to-date, relevant, and valuable
  • Evaluate emerging knowledge management software, upgrades, and opportunities for development
  • Assist in acquiring electronic resources and services
  • Coordinate with archives, museums, and library collections to acquire resources in a timely manner
  • Conduct project-specific research queries and analysis to help inform design decisions
  • Create and maintain instructions, manuals, and guides for project workflows
  • Configure, test, and adjust software to enhance user interface and experience
  • Work with teams to develop custom applications for knowledge discovery
  • Perform general library administration duties as needed

 
Qualifications

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and multidisciplinary environment
  • Excellent documentation and organization skills
  • Ability to work effectively independently as well as on a team
  • Experience with electronic resources and digital media including automating data-driven processes and building, managing, and querying complex relational and graph-based databases and discovery search engines
  • Experience with both quantitative and qualitative analysis in support of design and research activities
  • Experience with Web 2.0 concepts, productivity tools, and permissions management for external users
  • Passion for finding, daylighting, and providing access to vital information, data, and knowledge assets as they emerge
  • Dedication to identifying and monitoring best practices, consistency, synergies, and cross-pollination across an organization
  • Prior success advancing initiatives and projects involving multiple stakeholders
  • Experience with SharePoint 2013, SharePoint Online, and MS Office 365
  • Experience with Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems and project-based image collections
  • Background in architecture or other design related experience is beneficial
  • Masters in Library and Information Science, Information Systems, or related discipline is preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience in database development, administration, and/or programming is preferred

This position reports to the Communications Director and Partners of the firm.  Salary is commensurate with education level, professional experience, and demonstrated knowledge, but a full benefits package including medical, prescription, dental, vision, and life will be offered.
