Peter Benoit Architect, Inc. is a three year old small firm and design studio with a diverse portfolio of residential and commercial projects.  The Principal is looking for a Job Captain with at least 2 years of construction documents experience who will be in charge of putting together drawings sets on various projects.  The candidate must have the following qualifications:

  • Be naturally interested in and highly skilled in crafting 2D technical drawings
  • Draws beautifully, without exception.  Don’t apply if you are a sloppy drafter, if you don’t know how to use line weights correctly, don’t understand scale, or are generally an average drafter. You won’t like it here unless you can draw technical drawings very well.
  • Able to put together new drawing sets based on previous sample sets, design sketches handed off by the Principal, a schedule, and an allowance of time
  • Able to self-coordinate, troubleshoot and purge out mistakes as they are discovered
  • Be highly systematic, able to learn office standards quickly, and then able to mimic and implement those standards reliably
  • Able to take instruction, listen attentively, remember things as they are learned, write out and use to-do lists, and deliver exactlywhat was asked for—the Principal provides A LOT of verbal and written communication
  • ArchiCAD office.  If no previous ArchiCAD experience, must be able to jump in quickly, learn and master the fundamentals of ArchiCAD production according to office standard
  • Must take initiative, manage own responsibilities and meet deadlines. Must know what needs to be done next by being engaged and thinking out ahead, writing to-do lists, etc. rather than waiting around for someone else to make all decisions
  • Able to make beautiful presentation deliverables
  • Be a creative and flexible thinker who does not take “no” for an answer

The studio is a casual work environment with flexible hours, is dog friendly, we play music, go on outings, field trips and lunches together, and talk a lot about architecture, design and the profession in-studio.  Significant learning and growth opportunity for candidates who want to build out their professional skills as an architect.
