Chet Callahan Architecture is looking for a collaborator in their Los Feliz design studio. Current projects in the office include a Masterplan for a local Independent School, a multi-generational family compound, and the renovation of—and addition to—an historic mid-century home to create a seamless indoor-outdoor landscape and interior.  Applicants should be flexible, communicate well, be able to manage their time effectively and work independently, be interested in researching building materials and products, be proficient in AutoCAD and a 3d modeling program (Rhino and/or Sketchup preferred) with rendering experience (V-Ray preferred), and have experience producing Construction Documents.  Hours can be flexible and can be part-time. Applicants should have at least 3 years of professional experience, 5 years or more preferred.

Please provide an electronic resume, portfolio, and a description of professional experience.

Chet Callahan, RA leads an award-winning, full-service Architecture studio in Los Feliz, offering services ranging from space planning and partial renovations to ground-up construction of residential, commercial, and institutional buildings.

Chet Callahan, RA is a Southern California native and brings to his work a deep appreciation of the region and its climate.  His design process begins with a careful study of each site’s unique character in order to propose a sensitive addition to the existing-- built or natural-- landscape. The character of the existing building, daylight, and natural ventilation are central to each building project.  The project is further articulated through a collaborative process with the client, analyzing each of the client’s needs to provide a unique, functional, and efficient design solution.  While each project is developed within the parameters of client and site, the overarching principles of open spatial configurations, indoor-outdoor living, refined detailing and craftsmanship, and passive building systems are explored within each project.

Chet Callahan has been awarded the AIA Bronze Medal, a Spark International Design Award, the Interior Design Best of Year 2014  and Best of Year 2007 merit awards.  Chet’s work has been published in 200 Outstanding House Ideas, ARCH, Interior Design Magazine, Casa D, Architectural Record, and the Los Angeles Times.
