Retail Design Collaborative is an award winning architectural firm with a diverse portfolio of work.  We are currently seeking a Senior Job Captain to work in our office in Reston, Virginia. The ideal candidate will have experience working on retail and commercial projects.  The position requires digital graphics experience, hand drawing ability, knowledge of commercial and office design, good communication skills, and an ability to thrive in a team environment.

The primary function of the Senior Job Captain is to plan, organize and manage the efforts of the construction document production team and to provide technical leadership relating to the production of quality contract documents based on prototype and/or job specific requirements. 

The Senior Job Captain will be meeting corporate expectations of the position when s/he is successful in: 

  • Supervising and managing the production team’s completion of contract documents on schedule and within budget.
  • Delivering high quality drawings that can be easily interpreted by government agencies and easily utilized by construction contractors.
  • Managing client relationships in a manner that leads to customer satisfaction, repeat business and referrals.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with consultants.

Minimum qualifications include:

  • Professional degree in Architecture and Architectural registration preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years experience in architecture.
  • Extensive knowledge of architectural detailing and current construction standards.
  • Knowledge of building systems.
  • Understanding of architectural design and related fields.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience in utilizing Revit for completed projects.
  • AutoCAD (latest version) and other graphic and business software and their application in development of design through construction document packages.
  • Knowledge of codes.
  • Able to successfully complete the permitting process with aid and supervision of the Project Manager.
  • Experience with construction contract administrations, issuance of addenda and construction change directive procedures.
  • Excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
